Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Fireboy DML has released his fifth studio album, ZUKO!, today, alongside the official music video for “One Man Regiment” via Empire.

The album brings together West and Southern African influences, most notably on “IMALI”, which features hitmakers JAZZWRLD and Thukuthela. It also includes a collaboration with Jamaican dancehall star Masicka on “CLAAT!” and a pairing with fellow Nigerian singer Lojay on “C’EST LA VIE”.

Speaking on the release, Fireboy DML says:

“ZUKO represents a new chapter in my journey, both as an artist and as a person. This project is about growth, discovering new sides of myself and pushing my creativity beyond what people have come to expect from me. Music has always been about connecting people, and being able to collaborate with incredible talents from different parts of Africa makes this project even more special. I’m excited for my fans in South Africa and across the world to experience this new chapter with me.”

Blending Afrobeats, R&B, 3-Step and Afropop, ZUKO! explores new creative directions while reflecting themes of identity, transformation and self-discovery. The album’s title draws inspiration from Prince Zuko of Avatar: The Last Airbender, whose journey of conflict and redemption echoes the project’s central themes.

The “ONE MAN REGIMENT” video extends the album’s cinematic world through striking black-and-white imagery, bold red accents and a visual exploration of transformation.

Since releasing his 2019 debut album, Laughter, Tears & Goosebumps, Fireboy DML has become one of Africa’s most recognised musical exports. His international breakthrough, “Peru”, including its remix featuring Ed Sheeran, introduced his sound to audiences worldwide.

ZUKO! also highlights the continuing creative exchange between Nigeria and South Africa, as Afrobeats and Amapiano continue to shape global music culture.
