We were lucky to score an interview with one of the most inspiring Mzansi Street Hustlers, Our Home Boy & good friend – Meet Njur3 – The face & pioneer behind TEN COLORS OF DANCE. (T.C.O.D)![]()
Let’s start by getting your personal details, is Njur3 your stage name? , where are you from, & what is it that you do?
![]()
My birthname is Njabulo Sibisi, & my stage name is Njur3_Evolet, I’m from a humble suburb called Bellevue situated in Hayfields, Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal. I am a disk-jockey (DJ), I specialize in deep tech, Afro, deep house, progressive & soulful house music.
That sounds great, when did you start your career? please just take us through how it all started.
I began spinning the decks or “Djing” in 2008. it all began with a passion, love & understanding of music & then
with a bit of my own self teaching along with the help of my cousin Scelo “Biggy” Madlala, I joined “Oceanic Sounds” as DJ & equipment care taker. when i began I was still in grade 10 at Haythorne Secondary (High School).
In 2009 I started producing my own music , guided by Thabiso “T-munny” Ngobese that’s when I joined “The Invaders” as a producer & DJ, & then I matriculated from Haythorne Secondary in 2010.
Already sounds like a fruitful journey, but that’s not where it ended right?
*Chuckles* No,we haven’t even reached the climax yet. Following my passion & love for music, I enrolled to study
Music Production & DJing at The Soul Candi Institute Of Music in 2011. during that year I undertook my first Solo Project under my alias Njur3_Evolet, where I produced a remix of the Gold Coast Ep by DJ Feevo ft Harriet Summer – The Njur3_Evolet Unity Mix with close guidance from my good friend Tista Afreaka on my production.
WOW, that’s really impressive! So you could say joining Soul Candi was the best decision you took at the time?
Yes, Ofcoz it was. I’ve had the pleasure of travelling to Jo’burg & being featured in line ups such as that of “Capital” – Rose Bank, (JHB), Ftv (Fashion tv in Brooklyn (Pretoria). In my home town (Pietermaritzburg) I regulary spin the decks at Mzansi Car Wash & Lounge, Scotts Lounge, Cappello, 033 Lifestyle & Cubana. I’ve also made social parties hosted by Joey Drums & The Revival Parties hosted by Nelisa Q_China (just to mention a few).
I’m impressed by your work really, any big acts you’ve been fortunate enough to play with & share stages with?
Yes, those are the highlights, I’ve been very fortunate enough to share a stage with the likes of Euphonik (5 fm), DJ Kent (5 fm), Black Coffee, Christos (Metro fm), T-Deep (Metro fm) Zakes Bantwini, Lulo Cafe` (Metro fm), AKA, 2lani da warrior, Vinny Da Vinci & BET Nominees Lira, Toya De Lazy & Donald and also Internatonal acts Rocco (France) & Abicah Soul (Chicago).
You have lived my guy!!! that is such an impressive list of acts to ever exist & you have literary rubbed shoulders with all of them, well done

Thank you very much, it was really an honor & I’ve learn’t a lot from everyone I’ve met. During 2011 I was brought on board by the “Teem Company” which at the time specialized in events & printing. They felt that my skills & music expertise would be an asset to their team. During that time I discovered my own House Movement known as “Ten Colours Of Dance” that specialized in the compilation of mix tapes, to keep my followers entertained & never to lose touch with them.
Aaaah there it is, the concept sounds very interesting If I may just say, & I love your creativity, please tell us more about the glorious “Ten Colours Of Dance movement”
Initially the Ten Colours Of Dance (T.C.O.D) movement was based on gathering music from young, upcoming producers & DJ’s who are just like me, I then utilized a few connections I had built throughout my journey, & knowledge that I have in marketing music to assist them in gathering & gaining exposure, recognition, business & to also spread their music.
The T.C.O.D mix-tape consist of Ten (10) songs, each song is defined by a colour according to it’s style & tempo on the original beat. The mixtape artwork also plays a role in the title because it reflects the essence of T.C.O.D in the designs which are created by good friends of mine & life brothers known as “The Party Boy Empire”.
So you make people dance while inspiring, if that’s not the greatest skill, then I don’t know what could be. Please tell us about the T.C.O.D Apparel, I see some very very interesting designs here, how did the gear come about?
Well, thank you. I’ve started a retail side to the T.C.O.D movement, I’ve progressed in Ten Colours Of Dance Clothing Brand. I’ve recieved a very good response, feedback & support from followers, family & friends as they
are happy to support the brand & purchase the gear & I am very thankful & grateful to each & everyone who supports me. We offer Vests, T-Shirts, Hoodies, Sweaters, Beanies & SnapBacks. The branding, graphics & design it’self reflects the T.C.O.D brand & movement.
Awesome, your apparel speaks for it’self & I love the fact that you design for both males & females, love your work, I’ll get my gear of T.C.O.D too! 🙂
I feel like you’ve done all a person can do in one life *chuckles*.
*Chuckles in shyness* Thanks again , yes my gear is dedicated to both genders, making it great because people have a wide choice & range to choose from.
Great, so Currently are you with/ under any management? What has been happening lately in Njur3_Evolet’s world?
In 2012 I joined Canndance Media & Events because I was in search for better management & guidance. I attended the NYDA, Oskido I Believe music program for guidance towards my music career, the program helped me because I was then able to start my own independent sound company & still do what I love. In that same year I met Mbeswa Ngubane, my mentor who also helped me with life lessons & business related ideas, he made it possible for T.C.O.D to reach new heights.
During 2012 we managed to do our 1st event “Ten Colours Of Dance -Home Coming” party to introduce & market our solo label/ movement/ brand in December 22nd at Game Facing Lodge in Pietermaritzburg, where we had a crowd of 378 people attendance, & on December 26th out at Mbokodo Inn in Scottsville for the After Math with a crowd attendance of 150 people, this was a great achievement & an indicator that dreams do come true.
The following year, we went on to host our 2nd annual Ten Colours Of Dance Home Coming Party, which was held out at Lion Park with an attendance of over 400 people , on 21st December 2013, that was such a great achievement for us because we were building & learning to elevate our brand & what was quite impressive is we were doing all of this without a sponsor.
Levels right there, You killing everything ain’t you? Nice man, & You must have been getting a-lot of exposure though. No?
We kick started the year 2014 with an interview on Gagasi-FM on the 15th of March, On “The Weekend Takeover Show” hosted by King Sfiso to advertise our Brand, Events & Music, then went on to host my 1st Student Event on the 21st of March titled “Ten Colours Of Dance Freshers” which was also held at Lion Park, in which we had a crowd attendance of 200 people.
This year (2015) we plan to reach a new level with my T.C.O.D Team.
Totally impressive, well done! So as we know this is a tech world & work is followed, where can people get hold of you, see your work & just connect with you?
