The Singleton Escapes: A Journey of Taste, Tranquility, and Togetherness at Nirox Sculpture Park

Following the success of its Namibian retreat, The Singleton Escapes made its highly anticipated return—this time inviting 150 of South Africa’s most influential cultural tastemakers and discerning consumers, and we at Press Icons were among the tastemakers who were whisked to the breathtaking Nirox Sculpture Park.

Set against a backdrop of art, nature, and stillness, the one-day experience unfolded as a masterclass in sensory indulgence, connection, and the mindful art of slowing down.

From the moment guests arrived, it was clear this was not an ordinary escape. The Singleton curated a multi-sensory journey that seamlessly blended food, art, music, and nature, creating an atmosphere of curiosity and calm. Each experience was thoughtfully designed to encourage guests to pause, breathe, and “Savour the Single Moment”—the guiding philosophy behind The Singleton’s signature lifestyle events.

“We’re reshaping the way people experience the art of slowing down, unwinding, and living in the moment,” shared Ifeoma Agu, Group Head of Culture, Influencer and Advocacy at Diageo South, West and Central Africa. “Through The Singleton, we’re creating spaces that invite pause and celebration, where consumers can savour the brand’s depth and character in ways that resonate long after the moment has passed.”

The heart of The Singleton Escapes was found in its tasting experience—a refined culinary journey through the brand’s signature single malts paired with a gourmet menu that highlighted balance, texture, and flavour. The vibrant 12-Year-Old set the tone with fresh citrus notes, beautifully paired with seafood delicacies.

The 15-Year-Old, rich and layered, complemented hearty mains of rump, chicken, and pork belly, while the 18-Year-Old brought the experience to an indulgent close, enhanced by desserts like chocolate marquise, almond and lemon cake, and spiced poached pear. Each pairing embodied The Singleton’s craftsmanship and commitment to sophistication.

Beyond the palate, guests were guided through a series of immersive, sensory-led touchpoints:

Garden of Calm: a tranquil, mobile massage lounge where professional therapists provided a mindfulness-led relaxation experience. Aromatherapy Escape: an interactive session where guests crafted personalised aromatherapy oils infused with vanilla, citrus, and oak, echoing The Singleton’s signature tasting notes.

These thoughtfully curated elements reflected The Singleton’s deeper message: that luxury is not just about indulgence—it’s about presence.

By the end of the day, as sunlight danced across the serene Nirox landscape, it became clear that The Singleton Escapes was more than just an event. It was a celebration of flavour, emotion, and the simple beauty of being fully in the moment—a rare and resonant reminder to slow down and savour life, one sip at a time.
