Johannesburg turned a shade brighter on October 14, as Cheetos officially touched down in South Africa with a launch that was anything but ordinary. Dubbed the Cheetos Playground, the event transformed The Nest into an orange-drenched wonderland of music, fashion, and unfiltered fun — because if there’s one thing Cheetos knows how to do, it’s make an entrance.

Hosted by the ever-charismatic Tshego Koke, the Orange Carpet buzzed with energy as a lineup of South Africa’s hottest tastemakers stepped out in true Cheetos style — bold, playful, and unapologetically extra. From Younginz stars Lebohang Lephatsoana and Ayakha Ntunja, to models Ponahalo and Nkuley, and reality TV favourites like Libho Geza and Thabang Mazibuko — this was not just a launch, it was a cultural takeover.

And then came the music. Robot Boii lit up the stage with Tjovi, his infectious new single created in collaboration with Cheetos, while Kamo Mphela reminded everyone why she’s the reigning queen of movement, tearing up the dance floor with Partii and other amapiano hits. Ayanda MVP and DJ Oara kept the energy sky-high, proving that the Orange Side of Life is best lived on the dance floor.

“Cheetos globally is such a cool cultural brand, and I was thrilled to lend my brand-new song Tjovi to this campaign and get Mzansi dancing,” shared Robot Boii. “Headlining the Cheetos Playground has been an incredible experience — I’m encouraging everyone to get on brand with Cheetos.”
True to the brand’s mischievous DNA, every detail of the night was designed to play. Guests indulged in bites and sips inspired by Cheetos’ addictive flavours while capturing the chaos, colour, and crunch for the ‘gram. It was more than a party — it was an experience.
Marketing Manager for Snacks at PepsiCo South Africa, Diyaana Allie, summed it up best:
“The brand’s arrival is more than just a product launch; it’s a celebration of fun, flavour, and personality. We’re inviting South Africans to embrace their playful side and join the movement on the Orange Side of Life.”
Following a string of cheeky social rollouts and viral dance challenges featuring creators like Chad Jones, Sky Your Loss, Neevan Ferris, Luyanda Nyembe, and Percy Nyatshi, Cheetos has officially announced its presence in South Africa — and if the Playground was any indication, Mzansi is ready to play.
