The National Football League will be in Cape Town for a weekend of NFL fan events to commemorate the start of the 2023 season. As part of the NFL Africa program, which is a long term, multi-market commitment to growing the game at every level across the continent, the NFL will organize a series of fan events on Saturday, September 16 and Sunday, September 17.

The NFL, America’s most popular sports league, represents The ‘NFL Experience: Cape Town,’ an immersive American Football event for South African fans, to the Cape Town International Convention Centre on Saturday, September 16. The event will provide local fans with the complete NFL experience, from testing their abilities with interactive NFL football and NFL Flag activities to learning more about the League’s history.

In the American football invasion, fans will also be able to enjoy American cuisine and purchase actual NFL items.

The iconic Vince Lombardi Trophy will be on display among NFL memorabilia, as well as activations featuring Madden NFL 24, Pro Era, Wilson footballs, Mitchell & Ness original player jerseys, and Kingdom & Co. apparel. To cap off the weekend, an NFL Viewing Party will be held at the V&A Waterfront Amphitheatre on Sunday, September 17th, in conjunction with ESPN Africa.

Starting at 17.00, the event will combine live entertainment from NFL Legends and local South African personalities with a live screening of a game from Week 2 of the NFL season. Attendees will also have the opportunity to play games and win various prizes and thrilling freebies.

“I’m proud to welcome the NFL to South Africa for the first time. I look forward to seeing fans in South Africa enjoy the ‘NFL Experience: Cape Town’ for themselves, and I can’t wait to join them in the stunning city of Cape Town to help grow fandom in my home country.”
